Overview

Day 1 Arrival in Sisimiut. We meet at the airport where our local guide will meet us. Direction the port of Sisimiut to embark on our sailboat!

Day 2 to 9 For a whole week we will sail the west coast of Greenland in search of wildlife. Depending on the weather conditions and the possibilities of access to the different fjords, we will adapt our itinerary every day to give you the best chance to observe wild animals while putting you in the best conditions. As a lot of the hikes are off the trail and the weather conditions are quite unpredictable, it is important to be in good physical condition. In this region at this time, it is often beautiful but you must be prepared to face the cold, the wind, the snow, etc. We are at the end of the world.

The first part of the week will focus on land animals: Muskox, Reindeer, Arctic Fox and Arctic Hare.

The second part, further north, will focus on marine animals, including exploring Disko Bay, a site internationally recognized for the diversity and quantity of marine animals that we can observe there. We will go on sea kayaking trips to approach whales and icebergs gently. It is not necessary to have previous experience. The outings are only done if the conditions are ideal.

Throughout this week we will also observe birds, because Greenland gives us the opportunity to observe exceptional species such as White-tailed Eagle, Gyrfalcon, or King Eider, Little Auk, Ivory Gull, Black Guillemot, Rock Ptarmigan, Northern Fulmar, etc. And we’ll also have the opportunity to visit extraordinary places like cliffs filled with thousands of nesting seabirds.

We will finally reach Ilulissat where we will disembark at the end of our cruise. We will then go to our accommodation where we will spend the last 2 nights of the trip.

Day 10 The whole day will be spent exploring the surroundings near Ilulissat and Oqaatsut, admiring the typical beauty of these pretty settlements, but also watching the birds in the area. You can also have free time and rest if you wish. The program will be optional according to your wishes.

Day 11 We will drive to Ilulissat airport where the stay will end.
