Overview

The Save The Snakes Costa Rica Conservation Ecotour will encompass the rainforest, cloud forest, volcanoes, and an abundance of opportunities to find and photograph snakes in their natural habitat. However, you will also have the opportunity to relax on beautiful beaches, observe nesting sea turtles, go whale watching, learn about the fascinating lives of bats, soak in soothing hot springs and enjoy the pleasures of chocolate. This ecotour combines sustainability with personal comfort, as we will stay in first-class ecolodges that prioritize protecting the environment and creating an unforgettable guest experience. Most importantly, you will discover how this ecotour supports local communities, preserves habitat and protects wildlife populations.

Ethics

At Terra Incognita we support tours that do good in the world. They must help conserve the environment, support local people and provide educational opportunities for guests and staff, or be actively working to improve in these areas.

What conservation activities do you support through the tour, and your wider operations?

All proceeds support Save The Snakes worldwide snake conservation efforts, enabling us to protect snakes and mitigate human-snake conflict around the world. Your participation in this tour not only helps our conservation programs, it directly benefits the lodges and communities that actively protect the wildlife habitats we visit.

How does the tour support local people?

This tour promotes engagement with local people to gain a better understanding of their work and their contributions to wildlife conservation. By increasing engagement with local people and the work they do, we increase awareness about the value of such communities and their contribution to the environment.

What type of environmental education activities do you incorporate into your tour?

Throughout the tour, the ecotour leaders will share their knowledge about snakes and other wildlife and educate the guests about their importance through informative talks.

Do you provide any additional conservation, community or educational benefits through your wider operations that you’d like to mention?

This tour is tailored specifically to focus on the local wildlife and communities that contribute to the conservation of Costa Rica's pristine areas. Guests will have the option to buy local products to support the livelihoods of local people and learn about sustainable living to conserve the natural world.
